Arlésienne Assis (Seated Arlésienne)

$36.00

She is sometimes assimilated to the character of Mireille, the heroine of the writer Frederic Mistral.
She wears the traditional costume of the region of Arles in the nineteenth century, white embroidered shawl and large petticoat. It is also recognized by its particular hairstyle: the hair is separated by a median line, forming a bandage. Then, the hair is brought back in a bun covered with a white muslin and surrounded by an embroidered ribbon fixed by gold pins. It is this element that makes the richness of the costume.
Arles is a city of ancient art and an important center of the traditions of Provence.
